Skin tag removal (Hyfrecator)
The Hyfrecator is a medical device used for the removal of skin tags and other minor skin conditions. Consultation is required prior to service. This device uses electrical cautarery and should not be used with people that have a pacemaker or any metal in their body.
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
-
Consultation: Have a thorough consultation with your healthcare provider to discuss the procedure, potential risks, and expected outcomes.
-
Skin Preparation: Clean the area to be treated. Your provider may recommend specific products to enhance results and minimize side effects.
-
Avoid Certain Medications: You may be advised to avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements before the procedure to reduce the risk of bleeding.
During the Procedure:
-
Preparation: The area around the skin tag is cleaned and disinfected to prevent infection.
-
Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is applied to numb the area and minimize discomfort during the procedure.
-
Hyfrecator Use: The Hyfrecator is a low-powered medical device that uses high-frequency electrical pulses to remove the skin tag. The device simultaneously separates the skin tag from the skin and cauterizes the minor blood vessels, reducing bleeding.
Post-Procedure Instructions:
-
Immediate Care: Keep the treated area dry and covered for the first 24 hours.
-
Daily Care: After the first day, remove the bandage, wash the treated area with soap and water, apply Vaseline or Aquaphor, and keep it covered until the scab falls off.
-
Avoid Irritation: Do not pick, peel, rub, or scrub the treated area while it is healing, as this may cause scarring.
-
Avoid Heat and Sweating: Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs, and sweaty activities for 1-2 days after the procedure.
-
Sun Protection: Avoid sun exposure and use physical sunscreens to protect the treated area.
-
Healing Time: Complete healing typically occurs within a week when the scab falls off
The procedure is generally quick and involves minimal discomfort. Recovery typically takes a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size and location of the skin tag. Multiple sessions may be required.
