CO2 Fractional Laser

A CO2 fractional laser treatment is a type of laser skin resurfacing procedure that uses targeted beams of light to improve the texture and appearance of your skin. This is an ablative procedure that requires at least 7 days time for healing.

How It Works:

  • Targeted Beams: The laser emits short, concentrated beams of light that penetrate the skin's surface.

  • Vaporization: These beams vaporize the superficial layer of the skin (epidermis), removing damaged skin cells.

  • Collagen Production: The heat from the laser also stimulates the deeper layer of the skin (dermis), promoting the production of new collagen fibers.

  • Healing Process: As the skin heals, new, firmer, and smoother skin replaces the old layers.

Benefits:

  • Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Helps smooth out fine lines and deep wrinkles.

  • Improves Skin Texture: Treats acne scars, sunspots, age spots, and uneven skin texture.

  • Treats Skin Conditions: Can address skin discoloration, enlarged pores, and certain skin growths.

  • Minimal Downtime: Fractional lasers are less invasive than traditional CO2 lasers, resulting in shorter recovery times

Pre-Treatment Instructions:

  • Discontinue skin irritants: Stop using retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, and glycolic acids one week before the procedure.

  • Avoid sun exposure: Minimize sun exposure and wear sunscreen daily.

  • No Accutane: Avoid using Accutane within one year before the procedure.

  • Clean skin: Arrive with clean skin, free of lotions, oils, makeup, or self-tanning agents.

  • Medications: Fill all prescribed medications and prepare cool compresses (e.g., frozen peas in small Ziploc bags).

  • Contact lenses: Arrive without contact lenses and bring glasses in case ocular shields are needed.

Day of the Procedure:

  • Morning routine: Wash your face. Do not apply makeup or wear jewelry.

  • Have a designated driver take you to and from appointment.

  • Medications: Take your prescribed medications with labels to appointment for verification.

  • Arrive early: Arrive at the clinic early to complete any necessary paperwork and to relax before the procedure.

Post-Treatment Instructions:

  • Covering: Wear a protective hat or cover area for the first 2 weeks while outdoors.

  • Cool compresses: Apply cool compresses to the treated area for 15-20 minutes every hour to soothe discomfort.

  • Vinegar soaks: For full-face treatments, apply vinegar soaks every 2 hours for 15 minutes until you begin to peel.

  • Medications: Take prescribed medications as instructed.

  • Avoid: High heat, sun exposure, dirty/dusty environments, blood thinners/alcohol, touching the skin, and exercise for the first week.

  • Skin care: Avoid picking, peeling, scrubbing, or exfoliating the treated area. Use gentle cleansers and apply sunscreen daily.

  • Makeup: Avoid makeup until the skin has fully healed
